"Taste the Colortone" from Garrett was released on August 9th which expelled his vast influences and curiosities. From a perspective of loneliness, newfound solo approach, and advanced potential from within, G took a leap creatively on his solo debut.
The album features sounds of garage psychedelic rock, lofi rap, and a blend of 60s guitar rhythms and jumps that remind me of the doors fused with death grips. These tropical mixes seemed like a risk if not initiated properly with truth. The time and dedication to the project gave a representation of organized chaos but with intention of its erratic aura. Following from previous circumstances and the album cover of old school orange it has an atmosphere of finding oneself through actions of trial & error, love, and growth.
"My favorite song off the album is definitely 1968 that song was just so fuckin fun man i worked on it for a good part of 2 years trying to get all the vocals layerings right. The background vocals are so important to me i feel like that's what gives a song a good edge. I was trying to be on my brian wilson shit. i feel like it exploits a gritty side to my sort of garage psychadelia. At the same time it takes you through a landscape of a tripped out summer where you can't remember all of it just flashbacks of the beautiful things. The smell of grass, a girl you're diggin, short term impulses that make us feel free but end up taking control of us in some sort of way."

Soon after the successful album release G went into merch and curated a line of taste the colortone T's with the same logo form as the album that came in an assortment of colors. Perhaps this is a glimpse into the future outlets colortonegarrett will use to speak to the people of this reality..
